प्रदेश की सुखविन्द्र सिंह सुक्खु सरकार की राज्य के समस्त विधानसभा क्षेत्रों में राजीव गांधी डे बोर्डिंग स्कूल खोलने की पहल बच्चों का सर्वांगीण विकास सुनिश्चित करेगी। डे-बोर्डिंग स्कूल खोलने का जिस प्रकार से खाका तैयार किया गया है, वह सरकार की अप्रतिम सोच का द्योतक है। शिक्षा के क्षेत्र में एक महत्वपूर्ण और ऐतिहासिक पहल की गई है। प्रदेश के हर विधानसभा क्षेत्र में एक-एक राजीव गांधी डे बोर्डिंग स्कूल खोलने की प्रक्रिया आरम्भ की जा चुकी है। ये डे बोर्डिंग स्कूल जहां विद्यार्थियों को समग्र और गुणात्मक शिक्षा प्रदान करने में मददगार होंगे वहीं उनके बौद्धिक और शारीरिक विकास के साथ-साथ राष्ट्र निर्माण में अहम भूमिका निभाएंगे। इन स्कूलों में ऐसे नागरिक तैयार करने की कवायद है जो बहुआयामी प्रतिभा के धनी होंगे।
प्रदेश सरकार की राजीव गांधी डे बोर्डिंग स्कूलों की परिकल्पना वास्तव में विद्यार्थियों को एक ही शिक्षा परिसर में विभिन्न प्रकार की शैक्षिक और बौद्विक सुविधाएं प्रदान कर उनका सर्वांगीण विकास करना है। यह डे बोर्डिंग स्कूल परिसर करीब 50 बीघा भूमि पर बनाये जाने प्रस्तावित हैं। इन स्कूलों में विद्यार्थियों को एक ही परिसर में पहली से जमा दो तक की विभिन्न विषयों जैसे, कला, साईंस, वाणिज्य आदि विषयों में शिक्षा प्रदान की जाएगी। प्रत्येक स्कूल में कम से कम एक सौ अध्यापक होंगे। विद्यार्थियों के बौद्विक विकास के लिए आधुनिक पुस्तकालय की सुविधा के साथ योग और साधना का प्रावधान भी किया जाएगा। शारीरिक विकास के लिए स्वीमिंग पूल, सभी खेलों के लिये बड़े खेल मैदानों का निर्माण किया जाएगा। इसके अलावा इण्डोर खेल गतिविधियों को अलग से ढांचागत सरंचना विकसित की जाएगी। सभी प्रकार की खेलों के लिये अथवा शारीरिक गतिविधियों के लिये अलग से प्रशिक्षकों का स्कूल मे प्रावधान करने की योजना है।

प्रदेश सरकार की डे-बोर्डिंग स्कूल खोलने की मुहिम को मूर्तरूप देने के लिये सरकार के दिशानिर्देशों के अनुरूप सिरमौर जिला के पांच विधानसभा क्षेत्रों में भी राजीव डे बोर्डिंग स्कूल खोलने के लिए शिक्षा विभाग और जिला प्रशासन ने कमर कस ली है। उपायुक्त सिरमौर आर.के. गौतम लगातार व्यक्तिगत रूप से इन स्कूलों की स्थापना के लिए भूमि का चयन करने के लिये शिक्षा और प्रशासन के अधिकारियों की बैठकें कर रहे हैं और प्रक्रिया की व्यक्तिगत तौर पर मॉनिटरिंग कर रहे हैं।
सिरमौर जिला के नाहन निर्वाचन क्षेत्र के बनोग, पच्छाद के बाग पशोग, रेणुका जी के संगडाह और पांवटा के कुंजा में राजीव गांधी डे बोर्डिंग स्कूलों के लिए भूमि का चयन किया गया है। शिलाई निर्वाचन क्षेत्र के लिए भूमि की चयन प्रक्रिया चल रही है जिसे शीघ्र ही अंतिम रूप दिया जा सकता है।
उपायुक्त सिरमौर आर. के. गौतम बताते हैं कि प्रदेश सरकार द्वारा जारी निर्देशों के अनुरूप सिमौर जिला के पांचों विधानसभा निर्वाचन क्षेत्रों नाहन, पच्छाद, पांवटा साहिब, रेणुका और शिलाई में एक-एक स्थान पर इन स्कूलों की स्थापना के लिए सरकार द्वारा निर्धारित मानदंडों के अनुरूप भूमि का चयन किया गया है। स्कूलों के निर्माण संबंधी प्रक्रिया भी साथ-साथ पूरी करने के प्रयास किये जा रहे हैं।
इन आर्ट ऑफ एक्सलेंस डे बोर्डिंग स्कूल में पहली कक्षा से 12 कक्षा तक 500 से अधिक विद्यार्थियो की शिक्षा के साथ-साथ, खेलकूद, बौद्विक व शारीरिक विकास सम्बन्धित गतिविधयां भी उपलब्ध रहेंगी जिससे विद्यार्थियों को गुणात्मक शिक्षा के साथ-साथ आधुनिक तकनीक सम्बन्धी जानकारी भी प्राप्त होगी। इन स्कूलो में विद्यार्थियों का नामांकन आस-पास के स्कूलों के कलस्टर बनाकर किया जाएगा जिससे प्रत्येक स्कूल मे छात्र-छात्राओं की संख्या कम से कम पांच सौ हो जाए।
